Quiz: What’s Your Position on Israel and Palestine?

I’ve created this to explain my own position and help others understand theirs. Many people don’t realise what their views actually imply, especially when it comes to supporting specific governments, movements, or national causes. Below are a range of possible positions. Choose the one that matches your view most closely. Then scroll down to see what that position might really mean in terms of ethics, consistency, or contradiction.

Each position answers four simple questions:

Position Analysis

Position 1 – Hardline Nationalist

You support Israel and its government but deny Palestinians their rights. This is a one-sided, ethnonationalist position that supports domination, not coexistence. It is rooted in dehumanisation and easily tips into genocidal logic.

Position 2 – Pro-Peace and Balanced

You support Israel’s existence, oppose extremist governance, support Palestinians, and reject terrorism. This is a morally consistent and rational stance that recognises both peoples’ rights and the danger of violent actors on both sides. (This is my position).

Position 3 – Security-First Zionist

You support Israel but are skeptical or dismissive of Palestinians altogether. This is not genocidal, but it ignores Palestinian humanity and fails to offer any path to peace.

Position 4 – Contradictory

You support both Israel’s government and Palestinian rights, but oppose Hamas. This may be well-meaning but ultimately supports policies that harm the people you claim to care about.

Position 5 – Genocidal Anti-Zionist

You reject Israel’s existence, back Hamas, and frame terrorism as legitimate resistance. This position is openly genocidal and antisemitic. There is no support for peace or coexistence here.

Position 6 – Pro-Palestinian Leftist (with Risk)

You reject both Hamas and Israel, but back Palestinian rights. If this also includes denying Israel’s right to exist, then it still becomes a form of ideological genocide, even if framed in moral terms.

Position 7 – Irrational Extremism

You support both Hamas and Likud, two groups that want each other destroyed. This is illogical, incoherent, and likely driven by bias, not thought.

Position 8 – Incoherent Idealist

You support Israel, reject its government, support Palestinians, and support Hamas. This directly conflicts, since Hamas aims to destroy Israel. You cannot support both sides’ existence and one side’s destruction.

Position 9 – Violent Nihilist

You support an oppressive Israeli government and Hamas, while opposing both national groups. This is possibly trolling, or reflects a desire for endless war.

Position 10 – Supporter of All or Confused

You support everyone and everything, even opposing forces. This is either dangerously naive or utterly confused, and does not amount to a real solution.
